Basanti Movie Review
Story
Arjun is a final year
graduation student who comes across Roshini and falls for her. Roshini is Hyderabad city
Commissioner {Shayaji Shinde) daughter and with few instances she becomes
friend of Arjun. Meanwhile, a terrorist gang who are chased by cops attacks Basanti College and takes on students. While the
terrorists demand to release their leader Babur Khan and govt forced to follow
their orders. Arjun and Roshini are struck in the college and what happens to
their story? How does the students get saved from terrorists is all about the
rest.
Performances
Raja Goutham
comparative to his earlier two films gives a subtle performance and he
justifies his role. He is Okay in dances and fights.
Alisha Baig
looks mediocre and she delivers an okay job. Ranadhir plays crucial role and he
is promising, Sayaji Shinde and Tanikella Bharani are convincing. Naveena Jackson looks bubbly. Dr. KSI
performs well and others are adequate.
Analysis
Chaitanya Dantuluri came up
with good storyline and he has put in efforts with a neat first half and
creating a strong situation to the second half with interval bang. But the expectations
don’t meet the expectations in latter half and the climax looked abrupt. The
second half moves on a slow-pace, and the seriousness required for terrorism
backdrop subject is missing. The forced heroism scenes like Gautam bashing up
the intelligently shown terrorists has killed the needed effect on the screens
and looked like amateur handling. The second half had its promising moments but
with the way, a brilliant situation has been handled in ordinary way with
cinematic liberties made Basanti a half-baked script.
Mani Sharma's background
score, cinematography and the dialogues are additional assets of the movie. The
screenplay could have been much gripping for such crucial stories.
