Story:
Lingeswar alias Linga
(Rajinikanth) is a robber who hates his Grand Father Raja Lingeswar
(Rajinikanth) because of not giving any sources to lead their life. Meanwhile
story shifts to Singanoor Village for the cause of a Dam Construction where Naga
Bhushanam ( Jagapathi Babu) opposes to the Dam Proposals by making the village people their slaves and
kills an Engineer who try to construct Dam and a Temple re-opening.
Meanwhile, Sweety (Anushka
Shetty) who comes to know about the past of Lingeswar meets him and requests
him to visit the village. All of a sudden Lingeswara is in a police trap that
decides to hide in the village of Singanoor and re-opens the Lord Siva Temple .
Twists happen when Lingeswara
re-open the temple and comes to know the past of his
Grand Father Raja Lingeswar. What is the past of Raja Lingeswara? Will
Lingaa save the village from the threat of Naga Bhushanam is rest of the story.
Performances:
Rajinikanth suits perfectly to his two vital roles and gave an
additional style to his acting skills. His perfection in performing the role is
the biggest plus to the film.
Anushka is restricted to the role of glamour and has nothing much
to do with her role.
Sonakshi Sinha is role is limited and will be seen in flashback
episode
Jagapathi Babu’s role is wasted with powerless role.
Santhanam’s comedy is not up to the mark
Technically:
Director KS Ravi Kumar has failed
to narrate the current generation role with no grip in the screenplay. He took
total care in the pre-independence story and left the audience to blank face
with post-independence back drop. Editing is Ok. Music by AR Rahman is good and
has heavy BGM through out the film. Production Values by Rockline Entertainments
are rich.
Plus Points:
Rajinikanth role as Linga and
Raja Lingeswar
Cinematography
Second Half is good
Art Department Work and VFX Works
Minus Points
Weak Story, Dragging Screenplay
Jagapathi Babu’s role
Entertainment Scenes are forced
Analysis:
Lingaa is overall an average
flick with no gripping note in the screenplay. The film’s first half is wasted
with confusion in the roles and the director has elevated the script with
entertainment through out the first half of the film. The film’s second half is
all about the heart of the film and the director breaks his promises in
presenting the film with no grip at all. Rajinikanth’s flash back role and his
dialogues through out the film will be enthralled by the audience. Anushka and
Sonakshi Sinha roles are not properly designed. Weak Screenplay will test the
patience of audience.
Final Verdict:
Superstar’s One Man Show
RATING:3/5
