Artists Performances

Size Zero completely belongs to Anushka. The film’s story entirely revolves around her, and she has put in loads of hard work and dedication, and she made the role believable. She pulled of the brilliantly and outshined even at snail-paced proceedings.

Arya has very ordinary role in not-so strong characterization, and he was just okay.  Sonal Chauhan is pretty and has added glamour to the movie, Prakash Raj is apt in his role, Urvashi is decent while Gollapudi Maruthi Rao bags a significant role. Pavani, Adivi Sesh makes their presence felt, while Brahmanandam and Ali are wasted in poor roles. Master Bharat manages to provide some laughs. Rana, Nagarjuna, Tamanna, Hansika, Lakshmi Prasanna Machu, Jiiva’s cameos were neat.

Technicians Role

Cinematographer Nirav Shah’s work boasts of rich visuals and the frames are eye-appealing. MM Keeravani’s musical scores are mediocre and the BGM is appealing.

Dialogues written by Kiran were good in parts, while Anand Sai’s art work is commendable. Editing however is inconsistent. Kanika Dhillon’s concept looks realistic and relatable, but the storytelling is bad. The direction in the second half loses grip after a promising start. Production values of PVP Cinemas are commendable.

Analysis

Size Zero story concept is practical, realistic and many find Anushka’s role relatable, and the actress certainly steals the show in brilliant performance. She has put in hard work and effort and her dedication for the film is to be lauded.

Sadly, her effort has gone in vain due to the bad screenplay and direction. The film starts off on a grand note with entertaining elements from Anushka, but as the movie progresses, the screenplay totally slip down and the second half turns totally disappointing. Though the film’s runtime is just two hours yet the second half is so tiring that we wait for the titles to roll on.

The romantic thread of Ansuhka, Arya, Sonal is very predictable, and we have seen similar such scenes in lot of movies earlier. The issues of girl's weight problems, the main plot takes backseat and rather too much dramatic Clean India scenes, and slimming clinics have killed the fun elements in the movie deviating from basic plot.

Size Zero had the potential to be a brilliant film, but the entire effort and money had gone wasted due to bad screenplay and direction.

Finally

Size Zero- Anushka’s efforts gone wasted

RATING: 2.5/5
