Storyline

Bharath(Dhanush) is a middle class young guy living with his family. Year before, he falls in love with Hema (Amy Jackson), and they have few moments in their life, but due to some issues, they gets parted and breakup.

As time passes by Bharath moves on with a small job in his father’s office, and ends up marrying a girl of his parent’s choice Yamuna (Samantha). Bharath however falls in trouble with his father (K S Ravi Kumar) committing suicide.

With entire family responsibility falling on Bharath, how he will handle his newly married life and family troubles is Nava Manmadhudu story.

Artists Performances

Dhanush portray two different shade roles in the film, and he as usual is brilliant with his act and antics that will connect with the audiences.

Samantha does a different role, and she is perfect for the challenging de-glam role. She looks beautiful though deglamourise and articulates emotions impressively.

Amy Jackson looks cute and stylish in the film, and she is convincing in her characterization sharing delighting chemistry with Dhanush in the first half.

K S Ravi Kumar and Radhika excelled in their supporting roles. Adith does justifying job in crucial roles. Others filled the screens.

Technicians Role

Anirudh’s musical scores are ear-pleasing, and the background score is elevating.  Cinematography is classy in setting up realistic middle-class ambience and all the songs are realistically pictured.

Dialogues are impressive and go with the flow of the movie.

Velraj’s storyline is realistic but the direction in the second half could have been better.

The screenplay is faltering and the editing is bad. Production values are standard.

Analysis

With the makers promoting Nava Manmadhudu, as “From the Makers of Raghuvaran Btech”, one expects similar kind of film, but Nava Manmadhudu is a family-emotional drama, and the taking or rapid pace or engaging screenplay is nowhere near VIP. This one is way too dragging, especially in the second half.

The first half is laced with a cute love story and plenty of romantic and comedy scenes, and brilliantly picturized songs. Dhanush and Samantha share good chemistry are all engaging, while Dhanush-Amy Jackson scenes are refreshing. The emotion carried in two different stories and connecting them are striking.

But, the second half of the movie is a disappointment with very slow-paced tedious proceedings and neither the entertainment works here. Editing could’ve been better trimming down the dragged scenes.

Overall, Nava Manmadhudu works in parts for its refreshing and feel-good first half, but a predictable snail-paced second half ruins the show.

Finally

Nava Manmadhudu – Slow-paced second half spoils the show!

RATING – 2.5/5
