mother (Sitara) sends him to Bihar to sell one
of their properties Sankarabharanam
Palace which is on her
name. Gautam flies to India
to sell the palace, but he meets his relatives Badrinath (Rao Ramesh) and
family.
When everything is set for the sale of palace, a local goon
gang kidnaps Gautam. What does Gautam do now? How will he manage things and
save his family is Sankarabharanam story.
Artists Performances
Nikhil looked
most stylish in Sankarabharanam compared to his earlier films, and he plays an
NRI guy showing off the attitude. He is good with his act.
Nanditha is
beautiful and impresses with her performance, while she doesn’t have much scope
to perform.
Anjali who plays
soft role, played the rude bandit queen Munni, and she looked perfect. Her role
is brief yet significant.
Sapthagiri tries
hard to bring comic relief in first hour, Prithvi plays another hilarious role.
Sampath Raj is
wasted in a poor role though provides entertainment in couple of scenes, while
other cast Sanjay Mishra, Satyam Rajesh,
Shakalaka Shankar, Harshavardhan filled the screens.
Technicians Role
Praveen Lakkaraju’s music is mediocre and the songs are shot
decently, but the songs are not timed well, and too many songs disturb the
flow.
Background score however is pretty ordinary. Cinematography
is on top notch, and the Bihar backdrop scenes
are captured brilliantly.
Art work Chinna is grand but editing is bad, especially in
the second half. As informed, Story and characterizations are inspired from
Phas Gaya Re Obama.
Screenplay in the second half is very predictable, and Kona
Venkat’s writing doesn’t help events.
Director Uday failed in presentation. Production values on
the other hand are rich.
Analysis
Despite slightly different storyline, Sankarabharanam bores
with routine screen play and cliché presentations. The storyline and
characterizations are taken from Bollywood’s “Phas Gaye Re Obama” and the
writers have made slight modifications to appeal to Telugu audiences.
The film takes off to a good start with quick pace and
characterizations introductions, but after a point the story moves now where
with lots of dragging portions. The second half is the biggest let down and
dialogues are forced; the first half either has not much to offer, except for
hardly few comedy scenes. Too many villains and gangs only become dragging.
Uday’s direction is a half-baked attempt, and the
presentation is disappointing. There are hardly few comedy scenes that are
engaging. Though the climax provides some laughs from Prudhvi and gang, it’s
too late to make an impact.
Finally
Sankarabharanam- Not a Worthy One!
RATING: 2.25/5
