Soukyam Movie Review
Storyline
Seenu (Gopichand) falls for
Sailaja (Regina Cassandra) during a train journey and woos her and proposes to
her. While Sailu accepts his proposal, her parents restrict it forcing her to
wed a corrupt politician’s son. Seenu however rescues Sailaja from the tricky
situation, but earns the revenge of the local goon Baavuji and sketches a plan.
How does Seenu manage from the
scheme and the confusion family drama that follows forms Soukyam plot.
Artists Performances
Gopichand’s characterization very much reminds us of Loukyam, and
he is convincing in the role, besides looking handsome. He does emotional
scenes well.
Regina Cassandra is beautiful in the film, and she performed well.
She is expressive and shares good chemistry with Gopichand, while she had the good
grace in dances.
Mukesh Rishi is decent, Prudhvi
as reckless star entertains to an extent and Posani Krishna Murali is okay. Rohini Hattagandi is brief while Sahukar Janaki gets significant tiny
role.
Brahmanandam is okay and so is Krishna
Bhagawan. Others filled the screens.
Technician’s Role
Anup Rubens scored below average
stuff, and the Background music hardly elevates the scenes. Dialogues are bad
with unnecessary punch lines.
Cinematography by Prasad Murella
is colourful while the art direction is impressive. Soukyam story is routine,
screenplay is weak and direction by Ravi Kumar Chowdary is bad. Editing is
pathetic.
Production values of Bhavya
Creations however are rich.
Analysis
Right from the word Go, Soukyam
reminds you of several old Tollywood movies in every scenes. The happenings are
so familiar that audiences can effortlessly predict the next scene. If not
predictability, the makers would have at least engaged with a taut screenplay,
rather the proceedings are boring with senseless spoofs and tedious comedy.
First half of the film except a
couple of comedy scenes is routine with monotonous screenplay and uninteresting
dialogues. The confusion drama in the second half gets repetitive and hardly
makes us glued to screens. Neither the lead pair scenes nor the villain
characterization nor the spoofs of Baahubali, Temper, GS works in favour of the
movie. The spoofs were forced and looked cheap.
Overall, Soukyam has failed to
entertain even the routine commercial movie lovers.
Finally
Soukyam- Nothing like the title
says! Or Overdose of Torture
RATING: 1.75/5
