Guntur Talkies Movie Review
Storyline
Hari (Siddu) and Giri (Naresh)
are middle class men working in Medical shop, besides involving in small time
robberies. They however, plan to rob big amount of Rs. 5 lacs from a
middle-class house, and their execution of the plan leads to some tricky
situations. Jackie (Mahesh Manjrekar) and Revolver Rani(Shraddha Das) comes
after them.
Why are they after Hari and
Siddhu’s lives? Where does Suvarna (Rashmi Gautham) fit in the story? How does
this confusion comedy end up forms Guntur Talkies story?
Performances
Siddhu as Hari performs brilliantly. His dialogue diction,
mannerisms are impressive and he is very convincing in the characterization.
Naresh is superb in his role, and he along with Siddhu evokes
laughs. It’s one of Naresh’s best characterizations he is apt for the role.
Rashmi Gautham as Suvarna oozes glamour, and the sensual number is
well-shot.
Mahesh Manjrekar is superb but his character in the second half
could have been much engaging.
Shraddha Das as Revolver Rani works hard and even dubs for her
role.
Pavala Shyamala is hilarious while Raghu Babu, Tagubothu Ramesh, Fish Venkat evokes laughs.
Lakshmi Manchu and Chaitanya
Krishna do cameo appearances.
Technicians Role
Ram Reddy's cinematography goes
with the theme while Sri Charan’s musical scores passes muster.
The BGM is apt for the movie.
Dialogues are A rated and masses
may enjoy them.
Storyline is novel though at
times resembles Delhi Belly story, Screenplay is packed with overdoses of adult
elements.
Praveen Sattaru’s direction
however is below par.
Editing is crisp.
Production values are standard.
Analysis
Director Praveen Sattaru is known
for his novel storylines and a distinct execution. Ever since Guntur Talkies
trailers have been released, the hype around the movie has been increased.
Guntur Talkies is strictly restricted to a section of audiences who enjoy
A-rated movies.
The casting is perfect and the
characterizations are well-etched. The scenes between Naresh, Siddhu and Mahesh
Manjrekar have come out well, and the pre-climax situation comedy is good. The
writing is quirky with loads of double-entendre dialogues, but the screenplay
isn’t tight or engaging.
The confusion comedy scenes fail
to make the proceedings exciting in the second half. The execution is pretty
ordinary and except for casting, characterizations and few scenes, Guntur
Talkies has nothing much to offer.
Guntur Talkies is packed with
overdose of doubles entendres dialogues that it’s strictly restricted for
A-rated film lovers.
Finally
RATING: 2.75/5
