The gala was held on July 15, 2022 at the world-famous Paramount Pictures in Hollywood, California and was also broadcasted in app. "Top 1 Broadcaster of North America" Champion Anja Meyer, accepted her award and shared on stage how grateful she is that Bigo Live brought her new opportunities and posed for numerous pictures on the red carpet. Anja, currently based in Toronto, Canada was flown into the US for the awards at the iconic Paramount Pictures in Hollywood.
With the pandemic causing less workload in modeling, Anja put most of her energy and focus into creating content for a social media app called Bigo Live, contracted by a modeling agency. She joined in March 2019 but only since Covid-19 in March 2020 in full force and focus, gaining popularity through large events on the platform. She is also bilingual, so she is able to communicate and connect with a broad group of BIGO's global audience.
This award is probably Anja’s biggest success to date. “I placed in 2 Gala Awards before, winning Global Host 2020 Shining Star Top1, and Global Host 2021 Popular Division Top2 in the annual global Bigo Awards Gala. But due to Covid-19 those were held entirely virtually, so I feel absolutely blown away and honored to be flown into the US to accept my award on stage of the iconic Paramount Pictures in Hollywood. This is more special and feels like a once in a lifetime opportunity. The transition from a virtual in app live to a real live success. Hard work, persistence and ambition all play a part in this journey of more than 3 years for me. So happy, proud and also in shock to be Number 1 of North America and be flown to Hollywood. It’s unreal. I am super grateful!”
The event hosted by Gia Gunn and Dwight Allen O'Neal, celebrated the crème de la crème of BIGO Live’s hosts, agencies, and partners. The ceremony was held in a grand fashion with a red-carpet affair attended by some of the biggest names on Bigo Live, who flew in from all over the world. During the Awards Gala ceremony, BIGO honored the top broadcasters and families of 2022 in each region, including South America, Australia and New Zealand, UK and North America.
Each winner received a trophy for their achievement, paid flights and accommodation in the glamorous W Hollywood Hotel, prize money and in-app rewards.
