"We need to be careful about not harming birds on Makarsankranti" Says Actress Nikita Rawal"
The week is buzzing with many festivities and Bollywood stars among others gave an extra flavour to the cheerful extravaganza with their wishes to their fansMakar Sankranti is one festival that we celebrate with full of Dhamaka and fun in all parts of India. Actress Nikita Rawal also joins in wishing all a safeand happy Makarsankranti and cautions people about the right way if flying kites.
She says, "On this day, we fly kites and prepare traditional sweets including gazak, rewari, etc. People also consider it auspicious to donate on this day. Many people donate sugar, rice, jaggery, sesame seeds, urad dal, moong dal, clothes and many more things. But we need to be careful too as the threads of the kites are sharp. Birds get killed when they collide with the thread. Some children or people even do it intentionally and that needs to stop. To avoid killing birds, one should find an area with a clear sky so that birds are not harmed. The day of Makar Sankranti is full of energy and enthusiasm and that should be the case for all, humans and birds alike!"
She goes on to says,"According to some beliefs I have heard that people fly kites on Makar Sankranti in order to be exposed to the sun rays. It is a way to celebrate the onset of summer and bid goodbye to the cold days of winter."
