Story:

The story starts off in 1970's and 1990's backdrop with Antony (Vishal) and Jackie Marthanda (SJ Suryah) as the  gangsters. They have the conflicts with another Gangster named Ekambaram (Suneel).Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi, a scientist who invents a time travel telephone which has a feature to call the past generation persons from the future will come to the club to relax. Antony who comes to know that Ekambaram is planning an attack to kill him will go to the club to reverse attack Ekambaram. On the attack, Chiranjeevi will also gets killed and his time travel telephone will be left in his car.

Knowing that Antony was brutally murdered by Ekambaram, Jackie Marthanda takes care of Antony’s son Mark (Vishal) and he gives more importance to Mark than his own son Madhan (SJ Suryah).

Mark leads his life as a Garage Mechanic hates his father Antony on the wrong note believing that Antony killed Mark's Mother (Abhinaya). When all is going well with his professional life, his personal life with his lover Ritu Varma will be disturbed due to the past situations. Twist in the tale arises when a telephone through which one can talk to the people in the past is experienced by Mark when a car comes to the service in his Garage.

What consequences does Mark face with the Telephone? How Mark will deal with the past and present situations is rest of the story.

Performances:

Ilayathalapathy Vishal is very good as Mark and Antony roles. His role as Gangster and Garage Mechanic is terrific.

SJ Suryah steals the show through out the film with his versatile acting skills

Ritu Varma had less screen presence in come and go kinda role as a love interest for Vishal and has nothing much to expect on the glam note.

Abhinaya has scope for performance eventhough her role is limited

Suneel is another major asset and justifies his role with negative shades

Technicalities:

Director Adhik Ravichandran did an impressive job with Mark Antony script dealing with the sci-fi elements. Director took care of the screenplay with racy narration and the fun elements with the Telephone Sci-Fi concept.

Music Composer G.V. Prakash background score is good but the music could have been done better in the terms of composition. The production values by Mini Studio is decent. The cinematography by Abhinandan Ramanujam is good in part wise. The editing by Vijay Velukutty could have been better.

Final Verdict:

On the whole, Mark Antony is a watchable gangster flick with stunning performances from Vishal and SJ Suryah all the way. Eventhough the sci-fi element has no surprises to the audience, Director Adhik has used this element to create entertainment in both halves. Mark Antony is madness stuff and has all the masala to enthrall audience attention The film in the first half is little lengthy with confusion in the execution of the narration. The film's second half gets into the drama on revealing the plot with twists and turna. Climax has a surprise with Vishal's makeover ending up with neat conclusion.

Mark Antony is one time watchable flick for the audience who loves to watch the veteran fun and masala.

RATING : 3/5
