‘Vicky and I Bonded Over Our Roots- Punjabi Culture’, Bad Newz Actor Guneet Singh Sodhi

Laal Singh Chaddha actor Guneet Singh Sodhi takes on a pivotal road in Vicky Kaushal starrer Bad Newz. Sodhi’s Harman Sajita brings a fresh and dynamic presence to the screen alongside Ammy Virk and Tripti Dimri.
Reflecting on his journey to securing the role, Guneet shares, "I auditioned for this part and had to wait quite a while to get any news. Although I knew I was on the shortlist, I hadn't received confirmation yet. It might sound a bit cliché, but I was at Ajmer Sharif Dargah with my family and prayed for this role because I felt my audition had gone really well. A few days later, I received a call from the casting team at Anti Casting Company, asking if I was available for two months. When I asked about the role, they confirmed it was the one I had auditioned for. The casting associate seemed positive and requested to see my past work reel. I sent over my scenes from Love Aaj Kal 2, and just like that, I landed the role."

Talking about his role in Bad Newz, Guneet shared, "Harman Satija, as described in the script, is an ideal boy who embodies a blend of Hrithik Roshan's charisma and Amol Palekar's simplicity. His track is that of unrequited love while he is genuine romantic at heart, the perfect boy for any girl loved and approved by parents. Harman's character stands out as a quintessential lover boy with a heart of gold. It may sound like a cliché but in a world of greys and dark shades, Harman is a welcome change”.

Working on the set of Bad Newz has been an incredible experience for Guneet. "This character is definitely a notch higher than my previous roles. I was the youngest on set, and everyone pampered me. Working with Vicky, Ammy, and Tripti was a lot of fun—we often had lunch together. Vicky and I had many shoot days together and we bonded a lot over our roots- Punjabi culture. We also enjoyed jamming to Ammy's unreleased songs," says Guneet.
Guneet has previously worked in notable films such as Love Aaj Kal 2 alongside Sara Ali Khan and Laal Singh Chaddha with Kareena Kapoor, as well as Rakshak on Amazon Mini TV. Additionally, he starred in a song with Dhvani Bhanushali, directed by Advait Chandan, who also helmed Laal Singh Chaddha, Guneet portrayed an army officer in the music video.
