Sheena Chohan's Acting Journey In The South: Breaking Barriers And Winning Hearts


Actress Sheena Chohan is someone who has always let her work do the talking for herself more than anything else. As an actress, she has primarily focused more on quality ahead of quantity and well, her smart and visionary choices, especially down South has certainly helped her cement her niche as one of the most talented artistes around. She is also the only Indian actor to have won the Human Rights Hero award at the United Nations and that's an incredible achievement indeed. Her screen debut goes back to a long time in the popular Malayalam movie 'The Train' where she did a stellar job opposite the legendary Mammootty and ever since then, there has been no looking back for Sheena.

While Sheena certainly expanded her wings across the whole entertainment space further across other languages alongside a bit of work at the International space, it certainly can never be ignored that her career took off first in the South regional entertainment space, the Malayalam industry to be precise. Yes, that's right. It was the South entertainment space and 7 times National award-winning director Jayaraj who first saw immense potential in Sheena and no wonder, she has proven her class, calibre and mettle like a true professional. Soon after her initial stint in the South, Sheena continued to go ahead and do great things across different other industries. One of the greatest examples has to be 'Ant Story' for which she even received the 'Best Actress' nominations at the prestigious Dubai and Shanghai film festivals. The credibility and respect that Sheena earned in the South industry right from the very beginning is immense and well, when the people with whom she worked speaks volumes for her, there certainly has to be a lot of merit attached to the personality. Director Jayaraj was once quoted by saying in the media,

"Sheena acted with Mammootty in my film 'The Train'. Her natural ability to portray Mammootty's wife was remarkable. Sheena's commitment and professionalism were admirable. Having directed 45 movies in Malayalam, I can proudly say that working with Sheena was a remarkable experience."

Well, when such a stalwart personality is highly praising someone's professionalism, discipline and commitment, it certainly serves as a testimony to all the good feedback that she's earned as an actress over the years. The way she's gone ahead to break barriers across different industries post her initial stint in the South is truly remarkable and inspiring at the same time and no wonder she's won the hearts of so many people.

After having starred previously in as many as seven feature films, including three with National-award winning directors, Sheena is now looking ahead in the Hindi entertainment space for her upcoming debut 'Sant Tukaram' which will be directed by Aditya Om. Although she's slaying in every language that she's working in, it is certainly clear that if Sheena actively works again in the South regional entertainment space alongside other languages, she certainly has it in her to give her contemporaries a serious run for their money. She also has her Telugu debut happening soon with JD Chakraborty. She is playing a crucial and challenging role of a cop in the film and as someone who has always focused on preparation, this time as well, she has done in-depth research to get into the skin of her character. As someone whose main goal has always been to leave an everlasting impact with good quality work in order to inspire and entertain at the same time, the audience is certainly confident that as always, in her future as well, Sheena will be whacking it out of the park effortlessly like a thorough professional.
