Sheena Chohan Completes Dubbing for Negative Lead – She-Devil Role, with Nikhat Khan

Sheena Chohan celebrated a wrap on her upcoming OTT project where she plays Lilith, the she-devil ex-wife of the biblical Adam, by posting a dubbing video with her producers and photos of her and co-star Nikhat Khan at the Mumbai dubbing studio.
Legend has it that Lilith, Adam's first wife, was banished for not obeying him – Lillith’s independent spirit and want for equality clashed with the oppression she faced which caused a confusion that drove her to evil. Sheena sat through six hours a day of make-up and prosthetics and even was attached to a crane and wire to be sprung twenty feet in the air in front of one of India’s biggest green screens, to film the dramatic climax of the web-series.

Nikhat Khan, an actress last seen in the blockbuster Pathan, and sister of Aamir Khan, plays a pivotal role with multiple dramatic scenes with Sheena.

Sheena said: “I loved developing my character Lillith with my director, because it’s unusual that a negative character has a backstory that makes you understand their evil! I studied so many ancient documents to delve into this character who many people believe was removed from original versions of the Bible, and I also looked at real women who had been rejected, mistreated and abused and had then snapped. As an actor you have to have empathy with your character, no matter who they are or what they do, so all of my research into ways that some women have turned bad gave me such an interesting edge to bring to Lilith – and I’m sure so many women can relate – being discriminated and abused against might not literally make you grow horns, but it sure as hell can make you angry!”

The majority of the scenes without green screen for this 8 episode series were shot in the outskirts of Mumbai by award-winning international Australian producers - IWIL Productions, under Wilfred Fernandes.

In a total contrast to this negative lead, Sheena is preparing for promotions for her upcoming Hindi feature film debut where she plays the wife of a saint in the greatly anticipated historical biopic Sant Tukaram, directed by Aditya Om, opposite the superstar Subodh Bhave.

Last week Sheena also completed dubbing for her Hollywood film Nomad, directed by Taron Lexton, which equaled the Guinness World Record for the film shot in the most countries. Sheena had her film Amar Prem launch in the Bharat Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival, for which she has won four Best Actress Awards.

After five years of theatre in Delhi, Sheena Chohan was launched alongside Malayalam megastar Mammootty in a film by seven time National Award Winner Jayaraj, when played the lead in two films by National Award Winner Buddhadeb Dasgupta and was nominated as Best Actress at the Dubai and Shanghai Film Festivals for her film Ant Story, which was bought by Netflix.

Sheena played alongside Madhuri Dixit in the Fame Game and Kajol in The Trial. Sheena is the South Asia Ambassador for United For Human Rights,humanrights.com, where she was awarded the Human Rights Hero Award at the United Nations for spreading awareness of basic rights and equality to over 170 million people. In June 2024, she was awarded the Presidents’ award in the US, signed by President Biden for her humanitarian work.
