Midday Awards 2024: Sheena Chohan Wins Most Promising Actor Award; Dedicates it to the Dreamers!

Sheena Chohan, celebrated for her ability to understand and fit into diverse and challenging characters, has won the prestigious Midday Most Promising Actor Award 2024. In a journey that started with five years of theatre under the guidance of Arvind Gaur and saw her debut in a lead role in the South alongside Mammootty, starring in The Train with a seven-time national award-winning director, her trajectory has been fueled by a passion for her craft.

Her lead performances in two films directed by National Award Winner Buddhadev Dasgupta earned her recognition, and her lead role in Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s film saw her nominated for Best Actress at the Shanghai and Dubai Film Festivals. 

Sheena has continually expanded her horizons, working across multiple platforms and series, including The Fame Game alongside Madhuri Dixit and The Trial alongside Kajol, as well as the lead in her drama-comedy Ex-Mates.

Sheena's reverent film Amar Prem debuted at the Cannes Film Festival this year, winning her eight international film festival Best Actress awards, solidifying her status as a truly promising actress to watch among the leading talent in the country.

Sheena is all set to make a strong impression with her Bollywood debut in Sant Tukaram, where she plays the lead alongside Subodh Bhave in a much anticipated historical drama that Sheena went to huge lengths to research.

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Sheena described herself as a “dreamer,” emphasizing her belief in making dreams come true—whether her own or those of the characters she portrays. She spoke of her love for collaborating with directors and producers, and her enthusiasm for each project she takes on. "Every character I play is a manifestation of achieving one’s dreams, and that’s what keeps me going," she said, inspiring everyone in attendance.

Sheena made a bold statement with her edgy and vibrant look, styled by designer Mrunal Mistry. Her youthful and daring appearance was further elevated by Nikita Shaw's flawless hair and makeup. Captured by the lens of photographer Prasad Gayki, Sheena's striking visuals brought together a seamless fusion of style and energy.
